Animation - master

The Master's Programme in Film and Media with the specialisation Animation is aimed at those who want to develop their knowledge about animation and animated film in order to ultimately work as a director, filmmaker, animator or artist with animation as expression. The programme qualifies the student for third-cycle studies and consists of two years of full-time studies at second cycle level.

Artisticness, technology and collaboration are all necessary elements for making animated films. In the programme you will develop your own artistic skills, work in different techniques and participate in projects. The university's many specialisations in film, media, theater and acting give us great opportunities to explore the various professional roles of animation in collaborations and production exercises with students from other specialisations in the school. Our close contact with the industry means that you will meet professional practitioners during the training.

Master's Programme i Film and Media with the specialisation Animation

The Master's Programme in Film and Media is a programme for going more in-depth that is also research preparatory and has a common programme structure for all specialisations. In the programme’s theory courses, students are introduced to different perspectives on knowledge, theory, reflection and artistic research methods.

In the lab courses you do projects in animated films or animation exercises such as short films. The projects in the lab courses can be individual or collaborative.

The specialisations also has method courses where you will learn new techniques or methods for doing animation. In the method course you can also develop and deepen your knowledge of the technique your work with, so that you will be challenged and become an even better filmmaker and develop your animation expression.

During the programme you will have many opportunities for interactions across traditional professional boundaries, for example through elective courses that are common to the university’s departments. Here, each student identifies his or her need for further knowledge.

The programme provides you with specialist skills that prepare you for research and for working as an animator.
