”Eye of the Mountain” by Savas Boyraz
Cinematic activities conducted in places and states of emergency are in focus of this research project. The case is a singular form of guerrilla filmmaking practice that emerged within a group of actual guerrilla forces in the mountains.
Aim and research questions
How can we form a visual artistic self-defense grammar for effective and meaningful decolonisation of the visual realms? In a world that is under constant socio-ecological threat, how can the artist construct a methodological guideline to align herself with the people and its resistance, without compromising on artistic means of expression and creativity?
Research implementation and anticipated impact
By connecting archival studies with active collaboration with various active participants of independent filmmaking practices, the research will grow a repertoire of methodologies that can be transferred and translated into different socio-cultural contexts.
Schedule
Start and end year for the research 2021-2025.
